Pediatric radiology is a subspecialty of radiology involving the imaging of fetuses, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Pediatric radiologists practice in a variety of environments, including academic settings, freestanding private children’s hospitals and clinics.
CRL has fellowship-trained practitioners of pediatric radiology. This advanced subspecialty requires a 1-or-2-year fellowship after the completion of a radiology residency. In addition, fellowship-trained neuroradiology subspecialists interpret complex pediatric neuroradiology studies. Pediatric cardiovascular interventional radiology is also performed and practiced by individuals trained in interventional radiology. Pediatric oncology imaging is performed by radiologists who are trained in nuclear medicine and PET/CT scanning.
Our practice is located in the radiology department of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, a major center for tertiary care serving the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest. Pediatric diagnostic procedures are also performed in multiple community hospitals, and are interpreted by CRL Physicians via our large electronic teleradiology network.
Our practice is highly involved in monitoring and tracking outcomes to ensure we continue to provide the safest and highest quality care to our patients. The information gained is used for research and publication. Our hospitals and imaging center radiology departments participate in the official Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging’s Image Gently program aimed at radiation dose reduction in children.
