Biography
Dr. Althoen is the newest member of the Vascular & Interventional team for Consulting Radiologists. He completed an extensive fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Althoen completed his residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Not only is Dr. Althoen a Vascular Interventionalist, he was trained and worked several years as an Emergency Medicine physician prior to starting his radiology training program.
When asked what he likes most about being a physician, Dr. Althoen replied, “For me, being a physician means having the ability to assist people in the most difficult times of their lives. As a radiologist, I am able to employ the most advanced techniques available to diagnose illness, halt disease progression, and relieve symptoms using minimally invasive techniques. In partnership with CRL, I look forward to making a positive contribution to high quality health care in Duluth, Minnesota and the surrounding areas.”
