Biography

Dr. Cyrus Safinia is a fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologist specializing in the diagnosis of bone, joint, sports medicine, and soft tissue conditions. He is committed to delivering accurate, clinically relevant interpretations that help guide patient care, support referring providers, and contribute to positive patient outcomes. His approach combines attention to detail, clear communication, and a focus on providing actionable information that assists clinicians in making informed treatment decisions.

Dr. Safinia completed a Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he received advanced training in the interpretation of musculoskeletal MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiographic imaging. His fellowship experience included the evaluation of a broad spectrum of orthopedic, sports-related, traumatic, degenerative, and oncologic conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. He has a particular interest in helping diagnose complex injuries and conditions that impact mobility, performance, and quality of life.

Dr. Safinia earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. While serving in this leadership role, he completed advanced neuroradiology training that exceeded ACGME fellowship requirements and interpreted more than 5,000 brain, spine, head and neck MRI, CT, CTA, and MRA examinations. His extensive training across multiple subspecialties allows him to bring a comprehensive and collaborative perspective to patient care.

A Minnesota native from Eden Prairie, Dr. Safinia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. His engineering background fostered an early interest in technology, problem-solving, and innovation, all of which continue to influence his practice of radiology today. He remains particularly interested in opportunities to improve radiology efficiency, optimize workflows, and leverage technology to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care.

Dr. Safinia enjoys the intellectual challenge of radiology and the opportunity to solve complex diagnostic problems. He values the unique role radiologists play in modern medicine by providing answers that directly influence clinical decision-making across a wide range of specialties. Whether evaluating a routine examination or a challenging case, he strives to produce reports that are clear, concise, and focused on the findings most relevant to patient care.

Dedicated to lifelong learning and continual improvement, Dr. Safinia is passionate about advancing his knowledge and expertise within radiology while staying current with evolving technologies and imaging techniques. His professional interests include musculoskeletal imaging, sports medicine imaging, neuroradiology, emergency radiology, and radiology workflow optimization.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Safinia enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through weight training, sports, and hiking. He is an accomplished classical pianist who has competed in local and statewide piano competitions, and he enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants and cuisines, and spending time with family and friends.
