CRL docs named 2017 Rising Stars by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine
This year CRL had three outstanding radiologists elected by their peers as Mpls. St. Paul Magazine’s Top Docs Rising Stars. Neurointerventionalists, Drs. Josser Delgado and Yasha Kayan, and Body Imager Dr. Robert Yost were among those listed as the Twin Cities finest up-and-coming physicians.
MINNEAPOLIS, April 21st, 2017 — CRL’s Neurointerventional Radiology (NIR) section, also known as the “Minnesota Brain Docs”, prioritizes innovation and quality. Rising Stars Josser Delgado, MD and Yasha Kayan, MD are two of the best neurointerventionalists in the country.
Located in Abbott Northwestern Hospital (ANW), CRL’s NIR section has treated over 2,400 brain aneurysms and counting since the program started in the 90s. The pair are at the forefront of innovation in the field, being highly involved in new device trials, outcomes research and the development of new technologies for brain aneurysm treatment.
“It’s about providing the latest evidence-based medicine in a way that places the needs of patients and their families first,” stated Dr. Kayan.
The section also provides intra-arterial services at ANW’s certified Comprehensive Stroke Center focusing on the highest level of patient care. In these specific procedures, every minute saved provides a better outcome for the patient. “When it comes to an acute stroke, the chance of good outcome is reduced by 10% for every 30 minutes that pass. Time is brain,” states Dr. Delgado. The average time from patient arrival to ANW to procedure start time is 35 minutes.
As for CRL Body Imaging Radiologist, Dr. Robert “Rob” Yost, pride and quality of work are everything.
“Our jobs as physicians is to provide competent and compassionate care; the needs of the patient always come first,” states Dr. Yost.
Holding true to this fact, this past year, CRL’s body imaging section was capable of reducing radiation dosage for CT exams by 30%. Body Imaging is the subspecialty of radiology devoted to the diagnostic imaging and diagnosis of the chest, digestive tract, reproductive and urinary tract, and abdomen. They’re also a key component to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Yost is stationed mainly at Abbott Northwestern Hospital but also assists in covering CRL partner hospitals and clinics throughout the state. He completed his fellowship in cross-sectional imaging (also known as body imaging) at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Yost currently serves as Vice Chair of the Radiology Department at Abbott.
CRL is incredibly proud of all of our outstanding physicians who continually work toward our avid mission of providing high-quality service.
