Biography

Dr. Diana Christensen combines clinical expertise with genuine care in her practice of musculoskeletal imaging and diagnostic radiology, serving as a member of the CRL Emergency/Teleradiology team. Originally from Boise, Idaho, Dr. Christensen completed her medical education at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She then finished an internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center and a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington. To further specialize, she completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at the University of California, San Diego.

At the core of Dr. Christensen’s practice is her belief that radiology functions as both a diagnostic tool and a collaborative partnership. She finds deep satisfaction in consulting across medical specialties, working alongside providers to solve complex diagnostic challenges. Her daily practice is guided by the understanding that behind every imaging study is a real person and a family seeking answers and healing.

Dr. Christensen thrives on the intellectual challenges that radiology presents and embraces the field’s commitment to lifelong learning. She particularly enjoys cases where the diagnosis isn’t immediately clear, viewing these situations as opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and explore solutions that enhance patient care. Her expertise covers a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions and diagnostic imaging, making her a trusted resource for both routine and complex cases.

Outside of clinical work, Dr. Christensen is passionate about healthcare equity, quality improvement, medical education, and supporting women in medicine. These interests reflect her commitment to ensuring that all patients receive excellent care and that the medical field continues to evolve and improve.

When she isn’t interpreting images, Dr. Christensen enjoys running on the trails throughout the region. As an accomplished marathon runner with 11 races under her belt—seven completed during her demanding residency years—she qualified for the Boston Marathon while in medical school, which remains one of her proudest achievements. Running has become more than just a form of exercise; it has connected her to a supportive community that greatly contributes to her well-being.

Her athletic interests extend beyond running to include cycling and hiking with her husband and their two large dogs. Dr. Christensen also maintains a connection to music, having been a competitive violinist in her youth and earning a degree in music with a concentration in violin performance in college. Today, she enjoys both playing and listening to music, as well as exploring her culinary interests in the kitchen.

Dr. Christensen’s journey into radiology began early, inspired by her mother’s decision to return to school to become a nurse practitioner. This example of service and lifelong learning resonated with her deeply, leading Dr. Christensen to shadow radiologists and pursue research in radiology during college. The combination of anatomy, problem-solving, and the ability to impact numerous patients daily confirmed her calling.

Her approach to medicine reflects both her rigorous training and her understanding that healing involves not only accurate diagnoses but also recognizing each patient as a whole person deserving of thoughtful, expert care.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Remember that each imaging study represents a patient behind the screen and someone’s family member and use your years of knowledge and training to help them to the best of your ability.
